– The Activities-Specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale

DOWN The Activities-Specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale HERE

The ABC Scale is a self-administered, structured questionnaire that measures an individual’s confidence in performing activities without losing balance. (Lynda Elaine Powell, 1995)

Instructions to Participants are as follows: For activities listed below, use percentages to indicate your level of confidence in performing each activity without losing your balance or becoming unsteady. If you do not currently do the activity in question, try to imagine how confident you would feel if you had to perform the activity. If you generally use a walking aid to do the activity or hold onto someone, rate your confidence as if you were using these supports. (Lynda Elaine Powell, 1995)

A score of 0% = No Confidence. A score of 100% = Completely Confident. (Lynda Elaine Powell, 1995)
